What Is The Process Of Injection Molding?

The pelletized raw plastic material is put into the hopper, where it can be blended with pigments or additives like glass fibers. After that, the substance is inserted into the cylinder that houses the back-and-forth screw. The screw has two purposes: pushing the pellets towards the mold and squeezing them. The movement of the screw creates shear forces that provide 60% to 90% of the heat needed to melt the plastic pellets, while the heater bands around the barrel supply the rest.
When a sufficient amount of molten plastic gathers in front of the screw, the ram moves forward and pushes the material into the vacant space of the mold, resembling a syringe. This whole procedure runs nonstop, with the mold being filled in just a matter of seconds.
